Is there any other way to put it?

I am disappointed in Congress this week. Yeah, I know, just this week?

But the move to capitulation is just sad. Even if it was also inevitable.

This was not going to pass. They couldn't even hold all the democrats together, even with a barrel of pork. This may well cost some Democrats.

I can only hope now that the the big stick of the looming elections will have some force in September...

But has the recent history shown us this?

NO!

Their is always some NEW PLAN. And then comes the whines of how the liberals aren't giving the plan the time to come to fruition. Just one more half year. Just one more plan. Too few Republicans are willing to make that break. And even fewer are willing to stay there.

It most likely will come down to force out dozen or so Republicans in the booths. And then Bush will be truculent.

And should we forget the saber rattling over Iran?

Fear and war the last tools many Republicans are down to, and too few Democrats are willing to engage in a lengthy bout over these troubles.

I am sad to see the lack of backbone.

And I fail to see the evidence that Republicans are ready and itching to jump in and stop or resolve this war.

I just don't see it.
